As we wind down the renovation of our family home on Washington Blvd, my wife and I decided that it was a good idea to go ahead and take our turn to be featured in the Meridian-Kessler Home Tour. We love this event, have always discussed the possibility of participating and knew that we wanted to be a part of it at some point but it never seemed like the right year. Well, this year probably wasn’t the wisest choice either…new baby Litz is expected to arrive shortly, our bedroom/bathroom addition turned into a whole house renovation, I have quite a few other renovations to finish up in the neighborhood and several more to start for 2014.
But no time like the present, right? Right. So, we are ‘on it’ and aside from all the other things happening in our life right now, we are ready and looking forward to it. There is a lot to do and I know I will worry if there is the smallest item in my house is in disarray, however I truly think it is important and is a major contributing factor to why our neighborhood is coveted by so many. Many people from outside of our community come to visit that weekend and I think it is one of the things that sticks with them and keeps people drawn to the area.
I promise I wasn’t asked to promote this event, rather I feel impassioned to do so as it benefits our neighborhood immensely. I very much want to thank those people who put the time and effort into making this such a great event every year and doing so with little gratitude or reward, rather just for sake of being neighborly. From a marketing perspective, events like this make my job easy because the neighborhood and its residence sell themselves.
I hope that many of you will participate this year or will consider it in the future. In the meantime, I hope that you attend the tour in 2014 and please stop by our house! (I hope you like it!)
